The same thing happened as you described, on a special event, she came in to the terminal dressed to the nines and got such a reaction we should have worn bibs.
That building we were in back then still exists but is now across the street from Truist Park, the Atlanta Braves Baseball field.

At the dinner I went over to one of the tables and said hello to a supervisor who dropped his jaw in exclamation saying he didn’t recognize me...and the guy next to him said...we were just wondering who the babe was from NY City! HAHAHA! It was a lot of fun. They truly didn’t recognize me.
I I have to say the same thing happened when I went to my class reunion in my early 30’s for the first time.....guys who would not have given me the time of day in high school ...well as one gal said...”You could swab the floor from the slobbering mouths”.
The neat thing about all of it was I never saw myself as attractive, rather I did the best I knew how with what I got and that was it. Still don’t but I think it’s to my advantage as I’m ‘real’ when meeting people.
