Renal disease is not a hallmark of alcoholism. Usually when alcoholics develop renal disease it is due to end stage liver failure in a condition called hepatorenal syndrome which is usually fatal. Yes alcoholics can get chronic kidney disease as can anyone else, but it is not a leading cause of it
