An attorney for the armorer on the set of “Rust” said that his client is being “framed” for the tragic death that occurred when Alec Baldwin shot the film’s cinematographer.
The lawyer for Hannah Gutierrez-Reed insisted on Wednesday that “sabotage” and a “tampered” crime scene were evidence of the frame job for the shooting last month on the New Mexico film set.
The statement came a day after Gutierrez-Reed met with Santa Fe County Deputy Sheriffs about the double shooting. The cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, was killed and director Joel Souza injured when Baldwin fired a “hot” prop gun that was supposed to be loaded with blanks.
“We are asking for a full and complete investigation of all of the facts, including the live rounds themselves, how they ended up in the ‘dummies’ box, and who put them in there,” attorney Jason Bowles said.
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed's attorney claims the "Rust" armorer was framed. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed’s attorney claims the “Rust” armorer was framed. TikTok The lawyer said his client shared new “critical” information with local sheriffs as they await findings from the FBI and prosecutors.
“We are convinced that this was sabotage and Hannah is being framed. We believe that the scene was tampered with as well before the police arrived,” Bowles said, without providing any details to back up his claim.
Bowels had previously tied his theory to worker discontent on the set of the Western picture, as camera crew members organized a walkout to protest poor working conditions hours before the accident.
“I believe that somebody who would do that would want to sabotage the set, want to prove a point, want to say that they’re disgruntled, they’re unhappy,” he told NBC’s “Today” show last week.

No, its good, i got your point and you were clear you didn’t believe the only potential excuse that might take the blame off her.
but even still, if shes the armorer, how did she clear that gun before it ever got handed off to multiple other people?
She definitely has to explain that. Hopefully the Santa Fe cty investigators will require her to explain that. If they don’t she will still likely have to explain it in some number of civil suits.
FWIW the chain of custody in this instance was her, the AD and then Baldwin. At least three directors I have heard comment have said that is normal. They all said that every one of them would carry personal responsibility too.
If the prop gun was supposed to be loaded with “blanks” then what would it matter what was in the “dummies” box.
I wish journalists would at least get some of the terminology right.
But my point is that her and her lawyers claim of being framed is a total lie if she cleared the gun before ganding it off.
It would have had to been sabotaged by either the AD or Baldwin, unless shes implicating herself as the sabotager, which she is not.
Now this will bring up two lawsuits for slander against her from the AD and Baldwin.
Ah, yes, I see. Yep, my ridiculous hypothetical is her only defense. Even if that happened the chances of proving that would be monumental.
Now that I really see your point I’d have to say this lawyer is taking a dumb kid for a ride. This lawsuit certainly wouldn’t protect her from criminal charges or civil suits filed against her.
She seems to be implying that one of the union workers who walked off loaded bullets into the gun. However, there are still questions as why she did not personally hand it to Baldwin and check it right before handing it to him. There might have been nonstandard procedures set by management and she did not feel she was in position to make too much of a fuss about them.
If she’s being blamed, does that mean Alec is the murderer.....or will he blame it on Rittenhouse?
