most sf bay internet down for 1.5 hours (11 pm pst monday to 12:45 am pst tuesday)
down- comcast/infinity cable, t-mobile cellular data
up- att cellular data
very odd, possibly storm related. annoyingly ineffective comcast/infinity help line (wait was 1.5 hours, but they hung up at 30 minutes)
i have never experienced such a long time off the internet, at least since the early research days... not good...
Had an outage back in March. 12 hours. Sprint data and Comcast both down.
Someone hit a pole in Manassas, Virginia, taking a fiber optic line down. Drivers striking poles and causing multi-hour power and internet outages seems to be a common problem in that city. Too much alcohol and not enough brains in that place.
Unexplained is why it took 14 hours to repair the fiber optic line, but it IS Manassas and you have to consider the quality of the work force available.
I lived my first 40 years without the internet although I suppose 20 of those years it existed in a cruder form.
Wow 1.5 and half hours dang a life time.
actually i now do recall one incident which occurred (iirc) about 15 years ago. someone sabotaged a primary fiber optic cable running alongside a railroad track.
the internet is designed to handle most single point connectivity faults without overall failure. apparently whatever is being done now however is still not enough.
Spectrum in SE Wisconsin was down from 8:00 PM until after 12:00 AM last evening.
did SE Wisconsin have associated storm activity? some storm activity was happening in napa county (about 100 iles north of silicon valley, 50 miles north of sf).
what is so important about napa county (other than wine and hot tubs), i am not certain.
Xfinity has been freezing up a lot lately, they called it an upgrade in our area of S’vale a couple weeks ago. Still slow as ever.
Last night, bam, ‘One moment Please’ while we address issues.. recouped a couple extra hours sleep at least.
Still seeing some freezing..

FR is hosted in CA, IIRC. It’s been REALLY slow for me the past couple of days. I wonder if it’s related?
I’d blame a piece of slow equipment on my end that can’t go any faster but I’ve got a 1 gig cable modem, a speedy wireless router,,
Some say SMART TVs are to blame, they are always sucking up bandwidth. I don’t stream.
The FR server(s) reside in the South Bay somewhere so.. it’s possible we see boggy speed as a result.
i have noticed a lag here in bakersfield with spectrum the last few days, I have 1 gig nothing else except the smart phone is connected to the wifi
Comcast has issues today all over the place.
