I take my marriage vows, which I uttered before God, very seriously. But even if I didn’t, bravado does not impress me.

That is _not_ the problem at all.
Many young men (especially white young men) have low self-esteem because they have been told by their teachers that they are racists and are harming the planet.
In addition average young men have noticed that is only a small percentage of them that is desired by women. That hurts their self-esteem even more.
