In glancing at the titles and content of two of Professor Jonathan Rieder’s books on Amazon (see two URL links below), I am thinking you might be wrong in your guess about this professor of sociology at Barnard.
In looking at two of works on Amazon and knowing how these campus “gotcha” accusations are being used, I’m thinking the hard core Leftists on this campus are out to get him and out to get him fired in the censorious reality that the Leftists have insinuated into so many campuses.
I am familiar with the hard core Leftist reality of Barnard/Columbia and similar colleges, but this professor’s books on Amazon seem to be those of a moderate liberal by today’s standards. He wrote a book about MLK’s peaceful, moral stand, etc.
Today’s Left try to wipe out admiration for MLK and white out the legacy of MLK. They ignore his birthday and his legacy, because MLK was not a radical and decried using militancy and violence. MLK was a friend of Israel and Abraham Joshua Heschel, etc. and the radical Left incite Blacks against Jews. MLK’s niece is a vocal conservative who decries the violence of radicals. This professor’s MLK biography is apparently already a classic, a positive biography about MLK’s moral stand, bravery, etc.
Also Jonathan Rieder did a book about the growing discord between groups in the U.S. (See below). The radical left are intent on looking for any little thing they can use to damn and excise from academe and sully the reputation in Leftist circles and beyond of whatever moderates are still holding academic positions.
