Yes, as with quite a few diseases, it’s possible that there is an unknown genetic susceptibility. Based upon the following excerpt it appears the dead are a mother and two (presumably) biological daughters:

“She passed away from COVID-19 last week. Days later, her mother, Connie, and sister, Bonnie, followed.”

My understanding is there is an association between obesity and an abundance of ACE-2 receptors on the surface of cells. The receptors are potential entry points for the virus to get inside the cell and hijack the replication machinery.
