If only she were in America and part of the deaf "community" she would realize that her deafness wasn't a disability but instead was a gift.

I hope that if the character in the film has the ability to reverse her deafness that she chooses not to and remain a part of her wonderful loving community that only hates on those evil people who try to "cure" their gift.

My deaf friend got cochlear implants. We taxpayers spent a lot of money on them. He hates them and regrets getting them. He doesn’t even turn them on.
