No it wasn't. “Thanksgiving” was a frequent offering anywhere.
You Pilgrims were not the first (English) in the US territories and were not the first to offer up “thanksgiving”.
Even Columbus did this on the Caribbean shores.

The U.S. Thanksgiving Holiday is based on the story of Pilgrims and Indians sharing many of the types of food that are included on the menu, including turkey and cranberries.
Canadian Thanksgiving, and I am sure others, don't have the same backstory, but the U.S. Thanksgiving is based on a particular event that happened in Massachusetts.
You can celebrate Columbus' Caribbean Thanksgiving if you like, then you can skip the cranberries, and probably the turkey as well.
