This is a great story (I mean REALLY great), but $153 is impossible. That would be gasoline for about 2,000 miles on a Harley and he wouldn’t have spend a single cent on anything else.
It’s a nice “everyman” story, but that $153 just doesn’t pass the smell test.
Sorry to quibble and nitpick.
OK, I just checked the state government in NJ and found there are FORTY Senate districts. I never imagined there would be that many. NJ Senate 3 had 235,440 residents in 2010 (average NJ Senate district has 219,797 residents). So he probably could have done a lot of hands-on campaigning on his Harley.
But still, $153?
