Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki calls it “World War III” — an initiation of hostilities by the European Union to which his government will respond by blocking all business in Brussels. Strong language, you might think. Then again, if World War I and World War II taught Poles anything, it was the value of national independence.
The dispute between the EU and Poland is about sovereignty, pure and simple. Can a country be in the EU and remain self-governing? Eurocrats say it cannot, and the signs are that they will get their way...
...Poland’s judges do not deny that EU institutions have primacy in the specific fields ceded to Brussels under the EU’s treaties. Their objection, rather, is to the doctrine that European law is superior to national constitutions. And here, the EU is on much weaker ground than is generally supposed, for that doctrine is not to be found anywhere in the treaties....

In the 1980s/1990s, there were thirty-odd things which you needed an EU-device to correct or revolutionize commerce in Europe. The problem is...once the thirty-odd things were fixed/resolved....the EU then lingered and started to fix things which weren’t on the list before. They are now working to create new problems.
It probably would help to send the whole EU congregation home every 90 days for 3-months of meeting with citizens of their country.
Somewhere Sobieski nods his head.
“...then lingered and started to fix things which weren’t on the list before. They are now working to create new problems.”
The EU was the subject of your statement above and I’m pretty sure you realize it is a universal truth about unrestrained government throughout time. It depends on how you measure such things in US history as to when government “started to fix things” which were not previously counted as problems while creating new problems. I believe a strong case could made that many of the Founders remaining alive in the early 19th Century were not happy with the performance of their creation.
Poland, Hungary and the rest of the Eastern Europeans have so far been very smart. They have taken the EU’s cash but refused to surrender their national sovereignty or allowed the EU to bully them. So long as they stick together and back each other up, it will be very difficult for the Brussels bureaucrats to accomplish their dictatorial ambitions.
This really leaves a queasy feeling in my gut. The first is that Poland kind of was the straw for WWII, but also the whole Beast in the Revelation gets rid of three rulers to cement his rule.
Just too like the story for my tastes.
Even so, Come, Lord Jesus!
The EU, another useless leftist organization, like the Democrats and the UN... 🤓
The EU was created to eliminate the various nations, their boundaries, their Christian-based culture, their Whiteness, and to replace them with a powerful government, much as the US federal government, that would not be Christian at all, nor White.
It’s working in some areas, not in others. Some are resisting the elimination of their culture, religion, borders, language.
Here comes Poxit.
