I was wondering, with this swing to EVs, what becomes of the dead batteries? Will it be land fill or ocean dumping? Are we just creating a new pollution to worry about? (Rhet.)

Which Chinese auto maker has a Biden on its board? Can I trade Hunter’s artwork for Chinese auto stock?

The technology is all Chinese.

China will flood the market with 10k EV cars that get a 7500 tax “incentive” and flood the market with cheap EV s boxes. I will enjoy the market disruption.

Good. When they can’t charge them and they break down when they do, there will be less traffic.

It shouldn’t be much of a problem, because as everyone knows, EVs are *never going to sell*. /s

regarding cobalt:

[snip] Panasonic, Tesla’s battery cell supplier, wants cobalt-free batteries to be ready and available for Tesla cars within the next two to three years. The cathode of lithium-ion batteries used to consist of 100% cobalt. Over the years, Panasonic has reduced the amount of cobalt to 5%. [/snip]

IOW, there will never be less traffic — unless the whole autonomous “johnny cab” thing turns out to be viable (which I doubt).

Yeah, I have to agree. I’ve moved away from it twice now.

If I owned a hybrid I would never fast charge it. At home I would plug it into 110/220 AC and slowly charge it to boost the battery. I would do this a work too if allowed. Then run it off the battery as much as possible, since electricity is cheaper than gasoline. The optimum hybrid would be diesel, not gasoline. Honda has perfected the small diesel engine for small cars. They sell them in India and Asia.

Fast charge at a home charging station etc. shortens battery life.

Ora is the next Yugo. And 32K is not any kind of entry price point for a sub-compact. That's the announced UK 2022 price anyway (£25K).

The bitch of it is, crap like that will compete for charge space.
