Irony, and a recent post I said I would rather live in Tokyo as a Foriegner than a US city and then this happens, still wouldn’t change my mind.
One of my best friend and university frat brother lives and teaches in Japan for the past decade, and is to the go-to guy when State and/or the Embassy requires some exact translations. It’s not for everyone.
As an example, there is no such thing as “as I need my lawyer present” during police interrogation. Americans bitch about the cops here in the USA but over there, they screw you so bad which explains the over 95% “guilty” charge.
There’s a thousand boring US violent city stories around somewhere.
I would take Tokyo over any American city.

This is news because it’s not normal there. In another 10 years or so, there will be another attack of this type and we’ll hear about it. Meanwhile in Chicago...
