All that time, I thought Tiramisu was Japanese in orgin.
The ‘MISU’ is similar to MISO in Japan’s Miso Soup.

I thought that too in the beginning. The word doesn't look Italian, but it's colloquial for "pick me up."

When I learned it was Italian, I also heard it started out as a favorite treat of prostitutes, so I assumed it had a long history and didn't know that it only went back 60 years.
