Question on civil liability. Will the 6 million dollar policy cover all the civil award? Since the film production was not following industry standards will the insurance company say sorry, no coverage? As a producer, how much will Alec be personally held responsible financially? Will the financiers of the movie sue Alec for their lost investment? Lost return?

Also the criminal side will be interesting.

It will be interesting. Also did Alec literally kill his career?

Do we know there’s a $6-million policy? That won’t be enough. The civil judgments I’ve looked up from recent years of movie set deaths, even for stuntmen, are about $10 million or higher in damages. Or in settlements made out of court.

Personal liability is definitely on the table. Individual directors and producers have been named in these lawsuits. Spielberg was named in the Twilight Zone lawsuit. Director Alex Proyas was named in The Crow lawsuit. The director and producers of Midnight Rider were named in that lawsuit. People aren’t even talking about the director’s liability here, but in these other prominent cases, the director seems to often be considered the most guilty party.

Midnight Rider is the worst case scenario for the film crew in terms of legal problems. That was jail for the director, probation keeping him and others from working in the industry, multi-million dollar judgments divided up among the higher-ups and crew.

The Crow is the best case scenario. No criminal charges whatsoever. Just the lawsuit from the family settled out of court.

I’ve found nothing published out there related to whether insurance covered these fines or not.
