The question is why did Baldwin cock the single action pistol, aim the gun at the cinematographer’s chest and pull the trigger while rehearsing?

He pulled the trigger blasted her in the chest while rehearsing.

The gun didn’t just “go off”.

He pulled pulled back the hammer, aimed at her chest and pulled the trigger and blasted her.

Baldwin was aiming towards the camera lens because that’s the view that the director wanted to capture. The cinematographer was operating the camera and the director was standing behind her.

Yep. No matter what else did or did not happen, the responsibility lies solely with Baldwin.

That’s the point that needs to be hammered home.
