I hate getting those calls for my car warranty when I’m trying to get rescued.

Those car warranty people are persistent!
Need a warrant for the cellular companies to release info....plus you have to hit three towers for a true triangulation....two will give you an area plus approximate distance.....one general direction and approximate distance.....
I imagine if the search went longer they may have submitted for a warrant...
If he didn’t want to answer spam. Here is a tip that could save his life next time. Change the voicemail on the phone to a message that gives his approximate location, the time, the date, his situation (lost, out of gas, car broken down, injured, etc...) and any special instructions such as staying with the car, walking toward a town (north, south, etc...). The best part of this is that even if he lost his cell phone or it stops working, voicemail still works.

Maybe this person was doing something illegal. Explaining much of the stupidity.
Would be rescuers should be aware that fatigue, dehydration, hunger, and panic make people do stupid things; and the people most likely to become lost, etc., aren’t likely to be the savviest in the first place. Telling people to answer their phones regardless is not going to fix that.
Practical suggestion for LSCAR: Add “Rescue” or “Lake Co Rescue” to their cell phone info. Their calls would read out as such on phones of even the dumbest hikers. D’oh!

What the heck is this? Were there multiple people lost or has Fox gone totally woke? Read the article and note there are no references to the gender of the hiker.
And they are working hard, not to identify the sex of the individual. We are told it is a hiker, but never referred to as “he” or “she”, but rather as “they”.
You really have to bend over backwards to use these gender neutral terms, to avoid identifying sex.
Then you wonder if the individual prefers these gender bending pronouns, and that’s why these descriptions are in the news stories.
Although politically correct, the use of "they," "their" and "them" as indefinite singular pronouns remains a big pet peeve of mine. If Karl Marx were writing today and wanted his writing style to be fashionably woke, he would have to write, "from each according to their ability, to each according to their needs."
