The Nor'easter was worse than forecast, and today after having lost power, internet, phone and cell phone service a day and a half ago; I went out for a breakfast.
I was surprised at the no power and amount of trees down in Scituate, Marshfield, Pembroke Mass. and finally had to go north to Weymouth to find a breakfast restaurant open.
What few gas stations had generators to stay open had lines of cars some 60 or so deep.
To me the worst hit was Pembroke where so many trees are down, and in Pembroke, twice I had to leave my lane to drive under a tree that had fallen across the road and tore down the wires on the other side of the road but while hanging in the wires left enough room for a car to drive under it.
Hundreds of thousands are out of power here on the south coastal side of Boston.
When my son came by to check on me, he said some gusts hit 89 mph, and this morning on the car radio I heard a Boston radio station say 100 mph winds were recorded in this Nor'easter.
One good thing about the timing of this storm is we didn't have to worry about the water pipes freezing.
Unfortunately for the trees, they still had a lot of leaves on them which helped the high winds to topple them. - Tom
