Atlanta Can Host World Series After Losing MLB All-Star Game For State Voting Laws
Newsweek ^ | October 12, 2021 | Justin Klawans

After the Atlanta Braves had the 2021 MLB All-Star Game moved out of their park due to a slate of restrictive voting laws in Georgia, it turns out that baseball's biggest event, the World Series, might end up in their backyard instead.

The Braves defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-4, on Tuesday to advance to the National League Championship Series (NLCS), where they'll face either the San Fransisco Giants or Los Angeles Dodgers.

The winner of the NLCS will then advance to the World Series to play the champion of the American League, either the Boston Red Sox or Houston Astros.

So, while Major League Baseball (MLB) shipped this years' All-Star Game and its surrounding events like the Home Run Derby out of Georgia, there is a chance that the World Series, the pinnacle of professional baseball, could end up in Atlanta after all.

I hope Goodell has to go to Atlanta and hand them the trophy.

You mean Manfred. Goodell is NFL.

Absolutely they shouldn’t be “allowed”.

FWIW, I’m not going to be watching any of it this year, whoever is in it. Pro sports are pretty dead to me.

There is a lot of connection between the 2 teams - JL and I were discussing it..

Charlie Morton pitcher for the Braves in game 1 pitched for Houston in their WS.
Braves manager, Brian Snitker, his son is the hitting coach for Houston
Houston’s manager, Dusty Baker, first team he played for was the Braves, he was on the on-deck circle when Hank Aaron hit his home run record.
Both managers are 2 of the oldest managers currently in baseball.

Neither. I guarantee you that these two teams are not the preference of MLB, which I find hilarious. Karma.

The Braves have not knelt for the national anthem.

They supported blm and wore shirts supporting the same. IMHO there’s no difference.

A few did wear a shirt. It’s not the same to me, but I respect your opinion.

Moments before the game, as players from both teams lined up for the national anthem, they picked up a long, black ribbon during a Black Lives Matter video that featured Black MLB players. Once the video finished playing, players placed the ribbon back down on the grass.

I do stand corrected on the kneeling and the braves.

I also respect your opinion on this topic.

Atlanta metro area has 6M people - 9th in nation

Houston metro has has 7M people - 5th in nation

Both of these are larger than the Boston metro area (10th)

(Mouse over each market to see the # of TV households therein and market rank. You will see that Boston's DMA has more TV hh's than Atl. or Hou. TV market size matters to TV executives. All that said, if it is possible to calculate the aggregate of population in all the TV hh's in a DMA, I would like to know about it.)
