A huge Pacific storm is poised to unleash conditions known as an “atmospheric river”, with torrential rains and strong winds putting about 10 million people at risk of flash floods in parts of northern California this weekend.
The incoming tempest has raised fears of mudslides, especially in areas charred during record-setting wildfires this summer.
Some parts of the Pacific north-west, including coastal Oregon, are also expected to see heavy rains and winds, the Bloomberg news website reported.
Much of the Bay Area around San Francisco could see 3-3.5in of rain, with up to 8in expected at higher elevations in the region...

Nothing on the eastern slopes at 0430 hrs PDT. Web cams show snowing over Mt Rose already with possibly feet of wet heavy snow. Maybe a few inches in higher elevations of Reno by Mon morning. 😨💨
Heavy rain, wind, flooding, and mudslides are nothing new to Northern California. I’ve seen over 10” of rainfall in 24 hours along with 100 mph winds in the mountains of Mendocino and Lake Counties back in the 80’s. I’ve seen the Russian River Valley look like the Ohio River at flood stage.
“Global Heating” is just Leftist Media fear mongering.
Remember the rules:
Too little rain? Climate change.
Too much rain? Climate change.
Too hot? Climate change.
Too cold? Climate change.
Tornados? Climate change.
Hurricanes? Climate change.
Etc, etc.
Add to that “Bomb Cyclone”.

Poor babies. Much of Texas gets that much from a typical morning fog.
If a good Typhoon hits down south it might throw a few of the container ships ashore and solve the unloading problem. Plus it would FLUSH SF out.
The sea will be full of cheap chinese junk. Oh well there goes Christmas for the ones who purchase the junk. Better they buy groceries for their kids so the guberment doesn’t have to provide lunches.
Do you think that will be enough to wash the used needles and human feces off the streets?

California will fail to capture most of the water and of the water they do capture they will let a a lot of it to drain to the sea because of an endangered goldfish or something.
Wow, heavy rain in the fall in northern California and the Pacific Northwest. Such a thing has never happened before.
Be afraid of everything and believe it can be fixed by the government.
As Joe Bastardi terms it, “weaponization of weather”

1.84 inches, north of Gay Frisco since midnight.
For as long as I can remember, whenever it starts to rain at the end of a drought in California, the bureaucrats always say that the rains will do nothing to alleviate the drought. Seems they want to maintain the restrictions on water use, etc. that they have imposed as a result of the drought. As the rains continue, they keep insisting that the rains will not affect the drought until flooding begins.
“atmospheric river”... has been a weather term for decades when tons of rain are here or a lack of rain.

At least they can generate a lot of electricity with all that wind...oh, wait a minute. I forgot it doesn’t work when the winds are too high.
I’d never heard of this event in 1861 but since there was only a few thousand people living in what would become Orange County in those days maybe there were too few to pass on the story. In any event major work on flood control channels was done after flooding in I think the 1930s, so conditions are much different today. I hope I don’t find out how much different anytime soon.
Yes, as well as the term “Pineapple Express” referring to moisture being fed up from Hawaii.
