My experience with heat pumps...they’re expensive and horribly ineffective. Max heat output is 92degrees means its on constantly and doesnt keep up in a cold place. I keep mine off and heat with two 1500watt ceramic space heaters that keep me warm and my heat bill down by $20-$50/month over the heat pump. Walmart $50ea.

Many heatpumps are junk but a high quality properly installed heatpump will only use 25%-50% of what an electric resistance heater would.

Depending on your climate and energy cost, the cost of higher end equipment may not be worth it however

I am replacing my 16 year old HVAC system Monday. I live on the Washington coast and the saltwater corrosion wreaked havoc on my Goodman heat pump.

Fortunately I have a dual fuel system. When it gets below 32 degrees the heat pump shuts off and the propane furnace takes over.

The new system is a Trane also dual fuel. No way in Hell could a heat pump alone keep us warm even in our temperate climate. And the libs out here have started a war against natural gas. Watch out as this craziness moves east.
