Cap and ball revolvers were common throughout the 1800s, they weren’t just thrown away.

The gun in question, however, has been identified as a cartridge revolver, likely an SAA.

This was the 1880’s. Many were converted in the 1870’s with the introduction of rimfire and centerfire ammo. Not a popular gun in the 1880’s.

...according to an on-set source, the director had called for another take, when Baldwin (jokingly?) remarked: "Another take? How about I just fuckin' shoot the both of you?" before firing on the pair.

The story makes perfect sense. A deranged, violent, drug-addled egomaniac who has assaulted or threatened to assault numerous people, (including me personally) loses his temper and kills a person.

Everything else we hear is simply the lawyers and PR team trying to blame everyone EXCEPT the killer.
