Labor dispute. Baldwin, the producer, was also 3 weeks behind in pay to the crew and they were having to sleep in their cars
Whoa….like maybe gimme my money or else??
I will repeat my vague memory of a Burke’s Law episode. Gene Barry as Burke has to find out who substituted the live ammo gun for the prop one.
Synopsis:
“In the revival series episode, “Who Killed the World’s Greatest Chef?”, a girl jumps out of a cake and fires two guns, one shoots out a flag that says “BANG!”, the other a real pistol that takes out the victim of the week.”
Crew member in charge of prop gun that killed cinematographer was a ‘replacement brought in after workers walked off set of Rust’ following row about conditions and ‘two misfires’ days before tragedy: Alec Baldwin was told weapon was safe to use
That sounds like an environment where corners are cut and mistakes easily made. And guns can punish even the smallest mistake terribly.
