650,000 e-mails and they found only about a dozen that contained anything inappropriate. All from the same dude. Riiiiiight.

I think Gruden's point is that his emails were the only ones leaked. Most of those emails have not been seen by anyone outside the NFL. My guess is that someone wanted to throw Gruden under a bus. The likely suspect is Dan Snyder.

The likely suspect is someone in the commissioner’s office. Dan Snyder probably surrendered email servers. The information probably wasn’t pulled off them, read and collated until they got to the league office.

My guess would be the guy who, after he and his minions went through the Redskin e-mails found himself referred to by Gruden as a “clueless anti-football pu**y”. Goodell had the motive, the opportunity, and with the e-mails, the ability to ruin John Gruden’s position as Raider coach. I believe he or his underlings called Mark Davis with new revelations hourly till Gruden was removed as coach. I am not in any way, justifying Gruden’s De Maurice Smith comment, but how long did the person who leaked the e-mails to the NYT, sit on it?
