You can’t really be non-binary. Either you are binary or you are not binary which is binary of binariness.

Unless you have "ALLOW NULL VALUES" set to "TRUE". Of course, that particular setting is, in fact, binary. I suppose you could probably set that setting to NULL...but who knows WHAT would happen then and if that setting will even accept a null value.
