She should tell Whole Foods to call a food pantry for the throw-outs. They would be happy to pick it up and give it to needy families.

Food pantries accept food found in dumpsters? Please don’t say that...

It’s possible these bakery goods were accidentally sprayed with some disinfectant or a bug spray or something and were thrown out on purpose.

The local Dunkin Donuts throws out dozens and dozens of donuts, muffins and pastries every night, They used to donate them to food banks until the corporate lawyers told them to stop.

Some Trader Joes (for one) do give such to charities, but in some states do not protect such donators from law-suits, or those who pick it up are not consistent.
