My teen daughter just got her 2nd job a few weeks ago...fast food. She had no problem at all. She started at $14 and they have already upped it to $15. Her boyfriend is about to start at the same place.
The interviewer asked him:
Why do you think we should hire you?
His reply:
Because you are understaffed.
She laughed.
The interviewer said to him:
I only have one question for the interview...
Do you want the job?
My son's girlfriend got a job at the same place a few days later.
They hire all sorts of people there. Former military. Ex-cons. People that have had substance abuse problems. Young people.
This is what my son messaged to me in September after only working there a month:
So a grinder short fused on me and I took it to maintenance and the head of maintenance said "you broke it probably by carrying it by the cord."
I'm not there to argue so just say " it very well have could have been me." Then I get a new grinder and get back to work.
The next day comes and Matt the guy in maintenance walks up to me with my boss so I'm kinda pissing my pants thinking I'm gonna get fired for breaking the grinder. Then Matt says "I see you out here every day on time and always working and when you're out of work you look for more. And I really appreciate you not arguing with me yesterday. That shows character and that's the exact thing we need in maintenance."
So both he and his girlfriend started at $16 and they are already making $17 after a couple of months.
In the maintenance shop, my son gets to learn how to fix all kinds of things. He's been learning welding, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing. I told him what a great opportunity has been presented to him.
