American business is subsidized by cheap money and cheap labor, so they think their business models are viable when they are not.
Raise pay and you will find workers.
DO IT!
I’ll bet they don’t budget advanced training and raise pay rates to KEEP workers productive, well paid, and growing.
As government can subsidize sloth in workers with free stuff, the US government has subsidized LAZY businesses with owners who think they are ENTITLED to near zero interest rates and dirt low wages. Stop immigration for twenty years, send overstayed visas home, and...
PAY A F’in HIGHER WAGE.
Entry level is already $15+
How much is enough for you?
And what should the starting wage be for the high school kid cleaning the dishes at your local Mom and Pa dinner be?
I love the way the pompous blow hards around here think their political dogma on wages can just be imposed despite the fact none of them have ever ran a business or met a payroll.
Then when their wage dogma is followed with a mandatory minimum wage hike the same blowhards rage that their favorite soda at the local grocery now costs 2xs what it use to and how are they suppose to make ends meet on their fixed income doled out to them from Uncle Sam.
Tow industry. People love to use insurance, which pays pennies on calls.
Insurance per truck was 1500 a month, truck lease because CA forces 2012 and newer trucks, about 2000 per truck. Diesel is 4.50 avg. some places 5 per gallon. Takes 100 dollars in fuel per day. Insurance expects 10 free miles unloaded, 5 free loaded, 35 for the “hook fee.” Can’t afford to pay more then 15 an hour for drivers, especially with forced health insurance, workmen’s comp….
Result, less drivers, avg wait on a tow in San Jose is 90 minutes non AAA, anywhere between 1-4 hours for AAA.
Lockouts and jump starts are 75 minutes for us. Have to send a van because we lose too much money in fuel taking a truck out for those.
I’d like to get some of this cheap money you speak of. I’d love to qualify for free fed pork, but my Partner’s a felon, so we don’t qualify for those. Heaven forbid helping a man who realized he made a mistake as a teen and is going straight for his kids.
I’d love some near zero interest rates on anything. Where can I get some?
Pay for higher wages with higher prices... Thank you , President Carter, for the double-digit inflation. We needed that.
