Look how the Smithsonian Magazine writer described the crusades:

Starting in the 11th century, leaders of European nations and the Roman Catholic Church sent Crusader armies to the Middle East to seize sites considered holy by Christians from Muslim rulers.

Poor little dears, those innocent Muslim rulers were just minding their own business when the wicked Christians showed up to conquer them… no need to mention how those Muslims came to be ruling the Holy Land, or how many Christians they slaughtered to conquer it…

Yep. Christians trying to visit the “Holy Lands” did not fare well.

There are a lot of “legends” and their is a lot of poorly recorded history of that period. It had it’s own corruption.

Pope Clement the 5th and Philip the “fair” of France were both Evil.
