20 lb. Feist was out in a hayfield rooting around and hunting for about an hour. When I let her inside she was shaking, unsure walking (stumbling around) and had bugged out eyes and dilated pupils. She had a couple of spasms where she got up and tried to run only to bang into the couch. She peed, pooped and puked.
The puke look like it had some kind of small animal guts in it, most likely a mole, vole or mouse.
This is the 2nd time this has happened in the past 3 weeks after she has spent a long time hunting and rooting around.
The first time it did not last long before she could walk straight and was back to normal. This time it was much worse along with the expulsions which did not happen the first time.
We are out in the sticks well off the main road so a man made poison is not probable, besides, the event passes quickly and this is the 2nd time it's happened.
Yard critters around here are field rats, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, moles, voles, toads, and blue tail salamanders (skinks).
She's recovered enough now that she is no longer shaking and is laying in her bed.
Has anyone here ever seen this before or have an idea of what she could have gotten into?

Our dog ate a vitamin D gel on a Saturday evening and they helped us understand what to expect and what to do. We had to pay $75 for consultation but it was worth it. They’re available 24/7.

Unfortunately Your dog has a very short memory.
Please get dog to vet
Get a hold of some active charcoal if you can.
someone told me hydrogen peroxide will make a dog throw up if the dog ingests something bad for them.
I’ve never tried it, but my neighbor did when her lab pup ate rat poison.
🤣
BTW, there is a documented case of a horse that ate between 10-20 leaves from an OLEANDER bush and it killed the horse.
And do WHAT with it?
Burn it? Smoke it? Rub it on the dog's butt?
You're not helpful.
a toad
Toads, all dog needs to do is lick them and they will convulse, probably what your pooch got into.
Got pets and use Decon, pay they price if the pet gets the Decon target.
We quit using it years ago for fear of Great Horned Owls getting those rodents and went back to good’ole clap traps
The 5 gallon bucket with the peanut butter on the revolving can works great too.
Had one in the barn, pulling 2 3 mice out a night.
Add anti freeze to the water in winter
When you took to vet the first time, did they mention
a stroke? Something similar happened to our furry friend:
the seizure, stumbling, wandering and such. Vet diagnosed as
stroke; we tearfully said good-bye to an old friend.
You live in Timbucktoo? Might there be wild garlic growing nearby. If he is ‘rooting around’ he could have found a wild garlic patch. Like onions, garlic is a strict no no for dogs. Do hope he is better real soon.
He was looking for the one that got away
Anyday a dog gets to live is a good day. Glad it is doing better.
Any dog I have owned always makes an effort to get into some stuff that wasn’t good for them. Gotta watch out for that.
Dog is better now and is taking a snooze in her bed.
A toad seems most likely to be the cause. We don’t use poison for mice and the closest neighbor’s don’t either.
I checked the area where she was and there are no signs of shrooms. That area gets full sun and I’ve never seen any there before.
Although I think toad, she didn’t have the foaming at the mouth. This most visibly affected her motor coordination and the entire episode from the time I let her inside until she was able to lay still was between 5-10 minutes. It might have been going on longer while she was outside but it is definitely over now, except for the dilated eyes.

What is this and how do I build it?
“This time was very dramatic and it passed in about 5 minutes. “
Five minutes? It’s not poison.
Maybe epilepsy.
Stick a water hose down its throat. Worked for my dog .
Happy now? The Internet is your best friend when figuring out 'OMG what do I do now?' stuff.
Sure would help if the dog owner knew EXACTLY what the dog ingested, but even a small bit of activated charcoal is worth a try as it won't kill the dog. Might have black stools at first, though.
Rat poison if she ate a rodent. They eat the nasty stuff and die and other animals, dogs, cats, coyotes, eat the rodent. Other faint possibility is someone emptied their radiator out there. Get her to the vet asap.
Years ago, I was on an overseas business trip (Saudi Arabia) and came down with an awful case of stomach flu like symptoms from something I ate there.
After heaving my guts out, I swallowed about three of these pills, passed some black stool and went to sleep.
Woke the next morning for my appointments and managed to keep them all with nothing other than a little tiredness from the misadventure the previous night.
