I think he's instantly recognizable, and he has known habits and interests that he does not have the alacrity to turn away from.

But you make a point - what if he merely tried to disappear by hiding in plain sight in a metro like Chiraq? I still believe his fundamental interests, like living off the grid, the weird book selections, the weirder Instagram stuff, the desire to be a D-list social media influencer (that wasn't all hers), and his innate schizophrenia or bipolar tilt, will add up to giving him away before the holidays.

Instantly recognizable, be series, he looks or I should say looked, like almost every "swinging _ _ _ _" (military slang) I see in his age group. Why these guy choose to look like that is beyond me but that's another topic.
Now he may like your garden variety homeless person and who looks closely at them, most look away.
Betcha we don't see or hear from this guy for a very long time if ever.
The window of opportunity for finding him is almost completely closed. By the holidays it will be shut if not already.
