I’m merely pointing out that Costa Rica, is a damned sight better than hiding and eeking out an existence on the Appalachian Trail where he could be captured at any moment. It’s not like he can just re-enter society in a few years when this blows over.
He could, for the most part go un-noticed in Costa Rica. Plenty of American ex-pats to blend in with, and no extradition if he does get caught.
This assumes he’s not alligator bait, or otherwise at ambient temperature.
Any Central American country, the problem is, he gets recognized - just a matter of time before some puta gives him up - and he's either going to be extorted or kidnapped by some low-rent cartel, then dead. And it will be hell to determine that.
