The Southwest Airlines story was being reported and then suddenly disappeared. Did the pilots and aircrews deliberately strike in objection to the vax mandate?
I am curious if I will ever be able to make it back to the mainland, or am I stuck in Hawaii?
Sorry, forgot to post that I refuse the forced gene poison jab...
Does that mean that SW is still not flying?

It seems that way - or something related.
I heard people took their accumulated days off because they don’t want to lose them if they are fired later.
Something happening with American airlines now, 1000 flights canceled yesterday i think
American?
They and SW are my only choices for non-stop to Phoenix.
This may suck if it lasts until my next trip.
True. But thank God someone doing something and standing up against this. They need all of our support. I hope you won’t have any delays when you’re ready to travel
Yeah.
I don’t know for sure, but I do think it’s related to mandate.
They’re denying it, but....
Have you looked into sailboat rentals?
Ensure you bring a Ginger and a Mary Ann with you for the Gilligan's Island remake.
“Not a bad place to be stuck...”
Unless you run out of cash & go from a nice hotel to a homeless shelter.
Yeah, I will be transporting a couple rifles, so need to avoid any flights with baggage switchovers. The non stop flight from Kona to PHX is six hours, but no setting foot in Calif makes it worthwhile..
My wife would think that is a good problem to have.
They also have accrued paid time off, which they must use or lose.
They also have the option of refusing to take overtime pay to volunteer to work additional hours.
This last weekend they chose to take the paid time off and NOT volunteer to work OT.
Allegiant, perhaps?
I think that's close to the answer. I don't believe it's a "sick out" with the intention of harming the airline. A lot of Southwest's pilots are older so they're close to retirement. Many weren't planning on retiring right now, but when the government started with the vaccine mandate BS they decided it would be a good time to retire instead of stick around and be forced to take the shots. These guys have a lot of sick time accrued and are suddenly looking at trying to use it before they retire instead of leaving unused sick leave on the table as they go.
Basically you're going to see a bunch of pilots retire before the mandate takes effect instead of letting themselves be forced to take the vaccines. They're trying to use up their sick time so they don't lose it. This won't just be Southwest, other airlines will likely have the same thing happen. The combination of lots of retirements to avoid the shots along with guys trying to burn sick time should make for an interesting holiday travel season. People might want to plan on driving for the holidays instead of relying upon air travel.
I honestly don’t know. I am just worried that the “mandates” will be permanent :\
Ya, I am in a Vet shelter now :\
Did you get vaxxed?
(or am I going to be stuck here for not vaxxing?)
