Yes, you’re fortunate too. .....As I look back I truly think the Lord was guiding that decision. I read an article explaining how the math adds up better when you retire early rather than hold off until retirement age. ...even though the SS people promote otherwise. You can still work part-time and then later even work full time...and that exceeds greatly what you stand to gain by waiting.
I also retired early because I wanted to live my later years in charge of my daily life. I have loved every minute of it. I did work part-time for awhile after....and it was great knowing I wasn’t dependent on that work....I could leave any time. So eventually I did.
I cannot say enough about early retirement that’s favorable.
I would have loved for security to come get me to clean out my desk and escort me out of the plant. I would have loved to deal with lawyers as we later sue the hell out of them for unlawful terminations due to unlawful mandates by a Fraudster playing President. I wonder if that senile old idiot can even spell Maricopa County Audit.
And management needs lots of senior reactor operator licensed so it's not an easy decision for them to get rid of any licensed operators. I was an engineer so my license went toward the number they needed in reserve.
But early retirement was definitely the right decision for me too. It cost a bunch of retirement $$ I would have gotten if I kept working, but I now have a lot more $$ in the retirement accounts than I did when I retired. I bet on President Trump and shorted the DimWITS.
