The battle to get the GOP to fight for conservative principles has been waged and won several times since WW II. After Jimmy Carter’s election in 1976 against the hapless and uninspiring moderate Gerald Ford, conservatives considered abandoning the GOP In favor of a third party. Compelling practical considerations though ruled that out, and conservatives got Ronald Reagan nominated and elected in 1980 under the GOP banner. With Donald Trump likely to run as the GOP candidate in 2024, it would be foolish to endanger his chances by a third party effort.

Trump won't be with us forever. We have to think past his 2025-2029 presidency. We can't have another Bushbot to appease the GOPeRINOs. It will have to be a new, fresh party like when the Whigs were left behind.
