Misread statin as Stalin, and I’m thinking “Is there anything that guy can’t screw up?”

“Hence, it may alert clinicians that they may need to pay close attention and expect to adjust anti-diabetes medications when they initiate statins. Adjusting anti-diabetes medications is a common practice in managing diabetes.”

Hard to see how people managed before they were able to get their health from a pill.

Thank you for posting. My hubby recipient of 5 way bypass is on statins.

You can probably research more articles on statins here. There is a lot of research and a lot of doctors that say statins are not healthy and not worth it.

Is he taking statins for high cholesterol? Because it seems like the research today does not indicate cholesterol is a good predictor of heart health. Has he had his homocysteine tested?

He is complicated 5way at 54.. has outlived his dad already. Essentially, his thoracic said he will back on the table soon and just better get his heart strong for the next one. His thoracic said it was one of his worst repairs.

A 12-year study which is large enough to capture significant dietary & metabolism changes.

Did the statins provide a false sense of resilience to the poor eating habits that would advance diabetes?

I was already diagnosed with Type II diabetes many years before my doctor put me on Pravastatin.

Many people go downhill fast after starting Statins.

This is just more proof.

The doctors prescribe them because the drug companies do everything they can to get doctors to prescribe them.

“This was a very large study, although retrospective, showing an association but not the causative mechanism of diabetes progression with the use of statins.”

Probably more because of what caused us to be put on statins to begin with...

Doubtful, since most of them are now available in generics.

Yeah, because most have poor eating (and other) habits that caused the situation to be put on statins to begin with - the same habits which can cause diabetes.

I think I’ll take a walk now on that note...

Grapefruit is laden with natural plant compounds called phytochemicals, specifically flavonoids, which studies show can help fight stroke and heart disease.

I did 2 statins and had bad side effects. MD tried a third which lasted 6 weeks before side effects. When he wanted to try a 4th I walked. Told my new MD I do not do stains and will walk if you insist. Been on red rice yeast and niacin for over 10 years. Cholesterol is good, it hovers around 200 BECAUSE my HDL is in the low 70s

“Thank you for posting. My hubby recipient of 5 way bypass is on statins.”

he’d probably be better off taking 3 grams of a GOOD fish oil high in EPA & DHA, Pantethine (not pantothenic acid), and above all, 360 micrograms of vitamin K2-Mk-7, which works powerfully to keep calcium in the bones and out of the tissues, such as his bypasses ...
