This favorite fall spice blend is easy to make. You only need 5 minutes and 5 spices per batch........ smaller batches helps the spices keep their flavor. Ingredients
3 tbsp. ground cinnamon
2 tsp. ground ginger
2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1 1/2 tsp. ground cloves

Directions....whisk together cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves until well combined. Store in a small jar or container.

DIY Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew recipe.

Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew

Ingredients 1 cup oat milk 1 1/2 Tbsp pumpkin puree 1 Tbsp maple syrup 1 tsp pumpkin spice or cinnamon 1 tsp vanilla Pinch of salt 1 cup cold brew coffee or iced coffee Sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon

Instructions.....combine the oat milk, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin spice, vanilla, and salt over low to medium heat. Whisk to combine until the ingredients are fully incorporated; it should be slightly steaming but not boiling.Remove the oat milk mixture from heat and pour into a glass or bowl. Refrigerate for five to 10 minutes. After it's been chilled, add the liquid to a milk frother (or use a hand-held wand) to froth the milk mixture until it's very frothy.

They seem to tolerate very poor soil. I never fertilize mine and they bloom like crazy.

These pumpkin twists are delicious ........ great game day snacks.

Pumpkin Pastry Twists

Thaw one box (2 sheets) of puff pastry and spread 2 tablespoons of pumpkin pie filling over one sheet; top with a second sheet and press together. Cut the stacked pastry into 1/2-inch thick lengths and transfer them to parchment-lined cookie sheets. Twist each piece and brush with egg wash (1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tablespoon of water). Bake at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes, or until golden brown and fragrant. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar (optional) and serve with pumpkin or apple butter for dipping.

Now THAT sounds really good! Beau is having oral surgery next week and I am on a mission to put together soft foods for him to eat for the week after.

It’s going to be a challenge to keep a 6’3” 200+ pound frame full on a ‘mushy’ diet, but I’m giving it a try!

Thanks! I have ‘Protein Powder’ on the list for shopping on Tuesday. I have plenty on hand - I mean I can over-cook and mush up vegetables until the cows come home - but I do need to add protein to the mix, for sure.

He’s usually a, ‘hunk of meat, a salad and a veg’ kind of eater.

Soups and ‘falling off the bone roasts’ and such will help, too, and I plan on making a number of ‘chopped’ salads.

Soft Food Recipes – What to Eat After Dental Work

Sweet City Smiles.com recommend some yummy ideas for soft food recipes to try after having dental work done: what can you eat after having dental work done? You need some soft food recipes!

For some of us, it’s nostalgic to remember having a frozen treat after the dentist when we were kids. Depending on how extensive your dental work is (be cautious of what you consume in the days following major dental work!), you’ll find that milkshakes only get you so far.

Many foods can be troublesome after dental surgery or extensive dental work. Here are some soft food recipes that will treat your mouth and your body well.

Breakfast
For a warm breakfast, oatmeal topped with tiny pieces of cooked apple and cinnamon will be delightful enough to make you forget that you’re on a post-dental work diet. Scrambled eggs with cheese are a safe and satisfying option for the savory lovers.

Lunch
Lunchtime may be hard to navigate if you’re leaving out crunchy, chewy food. Try a healthy soup with small, well-cooked ingredients like sweet potato and lentil stew. You can make the bread easier to eat by dipping it in the broth.

Snacking
Smoothies are always good for patients with a sweet tooth – just steer clear of using fruits that have seeds. Add sugar-free yogurt for extra protein and healthy calories.

Dinner
Try roasting a variety of vegetables at dinnertime. Cut carrots, parsnips, squash, and zucchini into pieces of equal size, toss them in olive oil and seasonings, and roast them slowly.

What are some soft foods to eat after oral surgery?

Here are some great go-to’s that are actually satisfying:

Smoothies and shakes

Yogurt, pudding and ice cream

Avocado

Smooth soups, or those with very soft chunks

Mashed potatoes, or a soft baked potato without the skin

Cooked fruits, like applesauce

Ripe fruits, like bananas or peaches without the skin

Peeled veggies, cooked until soft

Oatmeal and other hot cereals

Pasta, cooked until very soft

Soft bread without whole grains, seeds or nuts

Gelatin desserts (like smooth lime gelatin salad)

I was planning on making Split Pea Soup on Wednesday when we get home. I have a big old Ham bone to work with. ;)

I think if I keep a crock of something going, he can nibble all day as he feels able. I am baking popovers tonight, but will make more this upcoming week - those are nice and soft and easy to chew. And, also - I LOVE them! :)

I hope they give him some good pain meds that we can BOTH enjoy! *SMIRK* I am anticipating him not being the EASIEST of patients. ;)
