Second marriage now going on 48 years next week. Son, an Iraq combat soldier, federal police officer and our daughter worked for DHS/DOJ against organised crime, as I did, in part. She spent time working legal cases for disabled children. Wife worked for a Republican VP/White House Admin.
Being a People of the Books, reading and education have always been at the top of the list. Our granddaughter learned Japanese before she was 14. Also learned Hebrew.
Our family on my father’s side were Russian
n immigrants (early fleers of the coming pogroms). Included a roofer, paint store, then all of us since 1938 in the wholesale plumbing business at some time. I installed my own water-heater and it lasted leakfree for over 23 years.
We had at least six college degrees amongst us earned while working in various white and blue-collar jobs. Average family IQ was at minimum 140 with an uncle at 180 - doctor and a world famous art collector/critic.
As Tevia might have said in “The Fiddler on the Roof”, Tradition and Education!! And hard work are the secrets of life.
You are never too young or too old to stop learning no matter what your race, religion, or ethnic/national origins.
God gave us all a brain. He left it up to us as to what to do with it.
Tevla was great as was the entire show. Thanks for the reminder, just put Fiddler DVD on AMZ list to add to collection of old movies—new ones are dreadful.
