Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced Friday afternoon that city employees who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 will be allowed to stay on the job after Oct. 15 if they take a test for COVID-19 twice a week.
As recently as Sept. 22, Lightfoot told reporters that she would not “retreat” from her requirement that all city employees be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Oct. 15, despite intense pushback from the police union and a lack of agreements with other labor organizations. Lightfoot announced the requirement Aug. 25.
But with a week to go until her declared deadline, Lightfoot stepped back and said she would not discipline unvaccinated employees.
Employees who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be required to test twice every week — on their own time and at their own expense — until Dec. 31, the mayor announced.
Until Dec. 31, Lightfoot said she and other city leaders would “continue to do everything at our disposal to educate employees with true scientific data and research as well as continue our conversations with our unions and labor partners.”

At least with the tests, someone can remain employed and to continue to avoid the jab. Our kid has taken a weekly COVID test since the Spring of 2020, offered for free by the company they just started working for in early March 2020, two weeks before everyone was sent home to "flatten the curve".
That company now has a similar "get vaccinated or get tested weekly mandate" as of this month. So, no change for our kid.
Are we ever going to learn how many amplification cycles are being used in these COVID-19 PCR tests to determine a positive? The tests are so inaccurate that they are going to stop using them by the end of the year. Obama was much smarter when there was a pandemic during his presidency. When the numbers went down in the summer, probably because people spent more time outdoors, he just said ..... stop testing.

It’s certainly your right to refuse the test. And I consider it unfair that the vaccinated don’t have to test too, since so-called breakthrough infections are anything but rare. With that said, I sure as hell would rather do the testing than the vax. I’ve been forced to show a negative test to do a few things that I’ve wanted to do over the past month or so, and the testing is no big deal... at least where I’ve done it. Drive up, swirl a q-tip around in my nostrils for a few seconds, stick the q-tip in a vial and drive away.
Holy Wha. The zero did something right after all. Yes, I believe the PCR testing is driving this fiasco. And the nonstop testing goes on for what? This is not preparing us for what may come; it’s disarming us as we won’t give a crap.
I’m having to test once a week and it’s a major pain in the ass. Schedule the testing, make the testing, wait for the test results, enter the test results in the corporations
“Your not eff’n vaxxed link”....then as of today, having my badge deactivated by corporate.
Couldn’t get into my office. Spent the better part of the day trying find out why, after jumping through the corporate hoops I come in this morning to find that my badge had been deactivated.
We’re to test every 7 days. I tested last Friday, received test results Sunday morning and entered them into the “You’re not vaxxed link”. Corp is trying to make not being vaxxed as difficult as they can make it.

The tests are as useless as the masks and as accurate as a derringer at 50 yards. Frankly without the lockdowns, masks and jabs, we would have reached herd immunity a year ago or more.
The jab is useless. Everything our betters have tried has failed. Doing nothing would have ended this long ago.
Get back to me when people stop losing their jobs because they won’t get vaccinated. When that happens, drop the testing. Good luck, because that’s not happening.
If they tell me to get the jab, I’ll tell them to take their jab and…..

I read some time ago that they stopped testing during that “pandemic” (about which, no one heard much) once they found that it had spread to different areas.
Yep, it’s in the northeast, now it’s in the deep south, now it’s in Arizona, and so forth. Once they knew the disease had made its way everywhere, what was the point in further testing?
There wasn’t a huge, worldwide political machine pushing that “pandemic” 24/7 for societal change, though. Therein lies the difference.
Can you believe that thing was elected to lead the third-largest city in what used to be America?
