Then why have so many been vented and survived? BIL was on a vent since Christmas through May and survived.
Why have so many on ventilators died? Especially older Americans, and those in Rest Homes?

Venting is largely a last ditch effort. They did learn early on that positioning of the patient was important to survival. They lost a lot in the early days because of that. And there are many variables that go into surviving and passing on on the vent. Some are one offs.
The city auditor of Marion, unvaxxed, got the virus. He was vented after failing to get better for 10 days and survived. Being vented isn’t a death sentence. But it isn’t good news either.
