I will say there were even MRI studies with big blood flow improvements (even six months after stopping supplementation) and N-back memory tests of people. The following is being used on the Cocoavia site, but would hold true for the same amount of flavanols from other supplements (but the Cocovia powder has no appreciable calories or heavy metals):

“After taking about 750 mg of cocoa flavanols daily for 8-12 weeks, the amount in CocoaVia™ Memory+, study participants experienced a 31% improvement in word recall and were able to complete a brain test an average of 21% faster.”

You may not notice an improvement if you were already doing well, though, which would be good and could show you might benefit at a later time, but not now.

I know I posted, many years back, the MRI blood flow study, but it would take time to find. That is what sold my wife and I on it for us and her parents.

Thanks. I read a number of articles and papers about CocoaVia after you posted the story, then I bought the three month supply. The product is really expensive — about $1 per day! I found I really have to take it before breakfast, otherwise it causes me heartburn. Maybe I’ll give it a try for a year before passing judgement. I turned 70 last July and have the normal (I think) problems now and then remembering a word I need or asking myself “what did I come into this room for?”
