UAP is harder to parse (took me good two minutes to figure out what they were talking about...) and lacks tradition. I know that wackos may have coopted the term, but still...
Also, for tradition’s sake, they should name it the Office of Foreign Intelligence.
I think what some folks (like Chris Mellon) are trying to do is lump UFO's and drones and the like in one bucket and say that some agency needs to surveil all of them just to be sure they are not a threat.
That way, the military cannot ignore the UFO issue as it has in the past.
