Sister in Law ^ | October 4, 2021 | knarf

My Sister in Law in the Manila area of the Philippines just said there was no FB blackout.

Was it really global or just the U.S.A. ?

Couldn’t you test it just by setting your VPN to a Philippines (or Malaysia, etc.) server?

I don't have VPN.

We use fakebook because all of the Philippines uses fakebook.

My U.S. citizen, Filipina wife calls home every day for the last ten years.

Fakebook is free and user friendly

I stopped reading facebook 3 years ago so I don't know if it went off here in the Philippines.

But the BBC says they are now on line.

I am more worried that personal info from facebook was hacked.

I was a travel writer. About 1,3543,000 years ago, when Imelda was running the show, I went to the Philippines, almost every island including Zamboanga. Loved it, loved the people. Glad your wife can stay in touch via Fascist Book.

I have a Fascistbook account only because I need it to sell my laptop and my computer guy sez I can sell it fast on Facebook Marketplace. I’m just a girl, so what do I know?

It's the most popular mode of communication in the Philippines.

I rejected it for years, but phone calls, no matter WHICH "cheapest" outfit offered ... were expensive.

So I broke down and got an account.

She's talking with her sister right now, and HAS been for about an hour .... and sometime in the next hour or so, Mama will get a signal and they'll three way.

You really can't beat the service.

We use facebook messanger for our family phone calls, and the expensive landline or cellphones only for business.

Everyone has cellphones with wifi. And the city sends out information via facebook.
But since it is in Tagalog, I get the informationfrom family.

Even the maid has a smartphone
