Dog the Bounty Hunter is marking his territory.

The reality TV star, whose real name is Duane Chapman, will open a home base in Central Florida Wednesday to help sniff out fugitive Brian Laundrie, who is sought for questioning in Gabby Petito’s disappearance and death.

Chapman was on Marco Island Tuesday sifting through tips while planning his next move and new headquarters, a source close to the high-profile manhunter told The Post.

“He’s trying to decide the next best lead to track,” the source said. “They are returning hundreds of calls and planning.”

Chapman interrupted his honeymoon with his new wife, Francie Frane, on Saturday to jump into the search for Laundrie, 23.

Christopher and Roberta Laundrie, parents of Brian Laundrie left their house Tuesday morning at 8:30. They were later spotted in a shopping center parking lot, they got in their truck and went home.

Christopher and Roberta Laundrie, parents of Brian Laundrie, were seen with their son at Fort De Soto Park

An image was posted on Gabby Petito’s Instagram in February that was tagged at the Fort De Soto Historical Fort, near the area where Chapman is investigating. Instagram

But Chapman said Monday that he has a lead on Laundrie that puts him miles away at the Fort De Soto Park in Pinellas County, where he said Laundrie and his parents were seen as recently as Sept. 8.

He’s as guilty of murder as Derek Chauvin is.

honestly, I don’t think he’s after the reward. He’s a millionaire. He’s fielding hundreds of tips a day, which takes some heat off the fibber telephone crew, he’s paying his own expenses and he has a network of bounty hunters who all have a side eye on this case. From what I’ve heard, the reward will be donated to the family to cover their expenses surrounding return of Gabby’s remains and interrment. He’s been turning tips over to the fibbers, and if he wants to give us slightly stale tips, that will keep the case in the news, and keep people looking thru their home selfies, I say good for him - it’s more than we’ve gotten from the fibbers

Chapman has already wasted taxpayer dollars when got the police helicopter out to the St Pete park

When did a police chopper fly over Ft. DeSoto Park in response to Chapman’s report? Do you have a source for this story? The WFLA news chopper was flying over the area much of today.

High profile is the bone Dog likes to chew.

He caught the serial rapist Max Factor cosmetics heir, Andrew Luster in Mexico in 2003 and ended up getting a beating in a Mexican jail.

No, I have little respect for this guy. Making a spectacle out of this tragedy is sad.

My money is on some random hunter or hiker finding him.

Sorry can’t find the article now tho i tried, but it was in a twitter link from an article in the evening on 27th that had a graphic of a helicopter flight path over de Soto. In searching for it this morning it appears Pinellas Co Sheriff disputes that it was them..”Online sleuths reported that a law enforcement helicopter flew over the area of the campground overnight. However a Pinellas County sheriff spokesperson told Fox News the department was not conducting an investigation at Fort De Soto.”

I found same Pinellas Co. Sheriff's report denying they investigated Ft. DeSoto Park re: Laundrie. WFLA News 8 was very actively flying over the site yesterday. Thus, there is no confirmation that taxpayer funds were spent following Chapman's lead.

Thanks for taking the time to circle back with your updated findings.

This morning--Gabby Petito NewsNation beat reporter update:

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office tells me they know of no
police activity at Fort De Soto right now.
They say their chopper is in the hangar - and the only
chopper over the area is a news helicopter.

This just cheapens the seriousness of looking for a real criminal.

True, just like bringing in the FBI :)

This is true, but my point remains valid regarding Dog just being out for himself. Dog said that BL was in de Soto instead of the nature reserve, but Dog already knew (or should have) that he was comparing a Sept 8 camping reservation to a Sept 14 report of BL at the reserve.red herring

Divers are searching the Carlton Reserve again today. As for Ft. DeSoto State Park, it is a much more hospitable area for a fugitive than the Carlton Reserve. Lots of little islands with heavy canopy. One could survive with little more than a fishing rod. Across the channel is Egmont Key.

Answer this riddle--why did the Laundrie's lawyer have them drive 2.5 hours each way between North Port and Orlando to meet with him when the lawyer could have just as easily traveled into Tampa Int'l Airport?
