And God did not destroy Sodom in anger but rather to preserve the path of His Son to come.
Any parts of Hell that tried to stop the generations in line for bringing forth the Messiah. they were destroyed, not as retribution for egregious sin, but to preserve the Promise.

God can and will use any means that He wishes, including burning bushes, talking donkeys, floods, rainbows,or space rocks to communicate. He is still in control and is not limited in methods He use.
