I find it ironic that the mini 14 is legal I believe in Commiefornia, even though it’s a thoroughly bad ass gun, because it has a wood stock and not a scary black polymer one.

Ruger mini 14s have exceedingly poor metallurgical quality. Every one I have ever seen come through a class, every single one, suffered cracked hilt faces and walking headspace. Not even one has survived a 2 day, 1,800 round course.
By the way, not to mention one locking lug was sheering off. The camming groove on the op rod was beating it absolutely to crap. We had to give that girl a loner AR to finish the course.
All guns are scary when you are put in the position of staring down the hole at the end. Upstream of that you could care less what that weapon has as far as bells and whistles.
