The only player I was disappointed with was Xander Schauffele in the final singles match he had with Rory. Rory won that match in my view on Xander’s errors more than his own good shots. Yes, I know, Rory had a day of rest that Xander did not have, but it was so close at the end and to me mostly on Xander’s mistakes. I like Xander, I was just disappointed.
I did not feel the same about Morikawa. In spite of his knuckle bitter close match with Victor Hovland I thought they were the closest matched players among the twelve matches. I expect Hovland to be on every European Ryder Cup team for many many years to come.
