I’m still just trying to figure out why about a lot of stuff...
Social Security still today does not have record of my 2020 earnings.
We filed our 2020 taxes on March 17.
Took 138 days for the IRS to acknowledge receipt of our 2020 taxes.
Received a letter from IRS in August that our income must be verified before our taxes can be processed.
Just wondering who I, a peon, p*ssed off...
Would the W-2 for 2020 have record of your earnings?
As a CPA i can confirm the IRS is in a shambles. I was told yesterday they are at least a month behind in opening mail, at least another month behind in addressing whatever issues are in that mail. Every agent Ive worked with this year is working remote. My belief is that even tho the push was on for everyone to file online, they arent set up to handle the remote work set up, plus a workload that still involves alot of manual key in of data. And if you call them, if you dont call within a half hour of them opening (8am) you will get a message that they are full and you should call another day.
#2064 lemme tell ya a story.
I had to go to the IRS site a year ago to “resgister” to get the spring stimulus. I filed my taxes in july. Remember extended deadline.
In November I got a check for exactly what I sent in when filing in July.
This year I filed my taxes.
About two months Ago I got my Biden bucks finally, the following day I received a notice from irs saying I needed to pay my 2019 taxes. Lol
After phone hell for 3 days I finally spoke to a gubmit employee. It seems when I went online a year ago to register for the stimulus their system considered it a tax filing.
They actually didn’t enter my taxes from last July until this spring/summer. The check I got in November at that time was considered overpayment and returned.
What a cluster...
