the reason it took so long was because they had to study long term effects. i guess that doesnt matter anymore. you know because of advanced technology and all.

The mRNA approach had been in development and study for decades. What was lacking was economic incentive to get it in production, a bit of recoding for a new virus, and then parallel testing pathways instead of sequential, for final approval. Most of the relevant long term study was done years ago.
