A man from Sussex, England recently experienced what was essentially a real-life game of “Clue.”
The man found what used to be a door hidden behind a bookshelf leading to a series of underground tunnels that led to various secret rooms left closed for decades, maybe centuries.
The New York Post reports that the family of 23-year-old Freddy Goodall has lived on the estate for roughly 500 years. As Goodall perused through some old photos featuring the home’s library, he noticed something strange: a doorway that was nowhere to be found in the modern day was clearly pictured years ago in black-and-white.
This was an even more interesting discovery, as Goodall—who documented the whole thing on TikTok—realized a wall behind some of the books he was clearing out earlier seemed hollow.
“I searched for it but couldn’t see anything at first, then realized it was hidden behind a bookshelf,” says Goodall to Jam Press. “Eventually behind one of the books, I found a hole that looked into the hidden room.”
Indeed—after entering the first hidden room, Goodall pulled up a part of the floor that revealed a ladder going underground to old, cobweb-covered tunnels that led to even more hidden rooms.
The U.S. Sun continues to report that cobwebs (and a huge wasp’s nest) weren’t the only things the secret rooms contained: Goodall also found a number of old books and other writings, including a letter from 1887.
It is believed the tunnels were used by servants to carry out their duties unnoticed by the lords and ladies of the home.
Whether Mr. Body was murdered by Mr. Green with the candlestick in the library remains unconfirmed.
So he went in his attic? Stories getting bs like.
If the building is of sufficient age it might also be a Priest hole.

Can’t get in to tik tok see the room. Can anyone post a link?
Click on the US Sun link in the article.
My question is how did this get out in the news?
If I owned that house, nobody would know about it. I need a place for my criminal headquarters.
He should have NEVER revealed the fat that there are secret passages. Now they aren’t secret.
Man, I thought this was going to turn into some weird, Silence of the Lambs-type horror story.
Having a panic room can be quite comforting.☺
No doubt the County Assessor will be by momentarily to jack up his taxes due to the increased square.footage and other ammenities.
Freddy Goodall is gifted the ultimate man cave, and all he has to do is resist that urge for his 15-seconds of fleeting fame, and keep his yap shut.
Now his wife will just turn it into HER Walk-In Closet, and wait until he sees the bill for the cost of the improvements!
Or food storage or even tunneling to make it bigger, assuming he can head in a direction without tunneling into other people’s basements.
You wouldn’t hear anything about it from me.
Batman has a thicker pole.
Definitely, keep it quiet. The tax assessors will double his property taxes.
The engineering for the ventilation system for the underground gun range could be tricky. Might need something like the tree stump from the old Hogan’s Heroes TV show.
Last time we were in UK we toured Churchill’s war rooms. Underground. Safer during war.
.
Wow. Cool photos.
In Churchill war rooms they even had a full bedroom for him. It was amazing. If covid madness is EVER over... go to UK.
“How did you get up here so fast?”
“Shhhh...secret tunnels.”
